Still Trigger
Drum trigger and replacer that fires on the exact sample of the hit, with MIDI out.
Also in the Drums & Band bundle
What it does
Still Trigger listens to a kick, snare or tom mic and plays a sample the instant a hit crosses the threshold. With no lookahead, the sample lines up with the real drum.
Blend samples under the mic or replace it completely, and send a MIDI note to a drum module or sampler. Velocity keeps refining for the first millisecond of each hit, so soft and hard hits come out right without delaying the trigger.
Key features
- 4 velocity layers of up to 8 round-robin samples, so repeated hits never sound machine-gunned
- Three layer modes: Velocity layers, Stack layers (e.g. sub + beater click + room), Stack every sample
- Per-layer level and pitch; per-sample level and pitch in Edit
- Detector filters you drag on the spectrum, so bleed doesn't trigger it
- Sample player (Play, All, Play layers 1–4), draggable threshold and MIDI out
Quick start
- Put it on the kick, snare or tom channel.
- Drag the gold dashed line until only real hits flash.
- Click Load on a layer card and pick 1 to 8 samples; use Play / All to hear them.
- Blend with Sample and Dry, or set Dry to −60 dB for full replacement.
Controls
| Control | Range | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Threshold | −60 to 0 dB | Level a hit must cross to fire. Drag the gold dashed line. |
| Retrigger | 5 to 250 ms | Minimum time between hits, so one hit can't fire twice. |
| Detect HPF / LPF | 20 Hz–2 kHz / 200 Hz–20 kHz | Filters on the detector only, to ignore bleed. |
| Velocity window | 0 to 5 ms | How long the rising edge keeps refining velocity. |
| Velocity span | 6 to 48 dB | Input range mapped from softest to hardest. |
| Dynamics | 0 to 40 dB | Difference between soft and hard hits (0 = all equal). |
| Sample / Dry | −60 to +12 dB | Level of the samples and of the original mic. |
| Mode | 3 modes | Velocity layers, Stack layers, Stack every sample. |
| MIDI note | 0 to 127 | Note sent on each hit. |

GOOD TO KNOW
Stacking adds samples together, so it gets louder. Bring the layer faders or Sample down to match.
