What it does

Still Feedback watches for the signature of feedback: a pure, dead-steady tone far above its neighbours that stands out or grows for about a third of a second. A ring that climbs fast is caught at once, notched, and the notch deepens if it returns.

Ring out mode keeps every notch at soundcheck; Live mode uses a small pool during the service; Locked stops new notches. Notches are IIR, so there's no latency, and they're saved with the session.

Key features

  • Three modes: Ring out, Live (pool of up to 8) and Locked
  • Narrow, Medium or Wide notches, up to 30 dB deep, ramped so they never click
  • Music-safe: tested on real songs, piano, strings and speech with no false notches at the default Sensitivity
  • Spectrum with every notch marked and the latest catch circled
  • Clear live / Clear all

Quick start

  1. Insert it first on the speech or vocal mic.
  2. At soundcheck choose Ring out and raise the system gain slowly until it rings; it notches and keeps each ring.
  3. Back the gain off 3 dB, then switch to Live for the service.
  4. Use Locked if you want no changes at all.

GOOD TO KNOW

In a simulated feedback loop, a howl that reached full scale without it stayed at room-noise level with it. A steady pure tone — a sine synth or a whistle — can still look like feedback, so use Locked for those songs.
